I was just in a car park loading the car and talking to my sister who observed this also. Initial bright white flash then another Light Green about 1 second after - due west (pretty much) of where ~I was standing. Was obscured by clouds but lit up the sky like lightning (it wasn't a firework - it was behind/above the clouds). I'm sure other people must have seen this, it was very bright. It was quite low in the sky so was quite a way west of Portsmouth. I'd be very interested to hear if there are any more reports.
