Reports Report 898k (Event 898-2011)

Observer
Name Randy
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I do not think this was a meteor. My wife and I were on the deck about 9:20 pm observing satellites moving north to south in the night sky. We had observed 4-5 satellites tracking across the sky. I was watching one starting straight over my head and I was watching it move south. As it moved south at about a 2:00 position it looked like it blew up in a brief but very bright fireball. It was quiet a large fireball. What was very "weird" was after the fireball - both my wife and I observed that the satellite (debris?) continued to track on it's course until we couldn't see it anymore. I am hoping others have seen it or maybe we would read about a satellite "explosion". We are in SE MN so I am guessing the event happened over Iowa or further south? The explosion reminded me of something you would see in a James Bond movie when the villain shoots something out of space with a laser......no laser with this one though.
