Reports Report 843c (Event 843-2017)

Observer
Name Lynn W
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks It happened very fast. My husband and I were driving on 1885 west somewhere between where it starts near Peaster and the Whitt cutoff road. (Its a long country drive). The Adell location I pointed to was just a guess. He was driving, and we both saw it off to the right. I saw more of it than he (I'm guessing 2-5 seconds, he guessed < 1 second.) It was so bright and low in the sky (relative to the stars) that I initially thought it was a plane until it suddenly vanished. My husband thought the same thing. It was so unusual, that I kept watching for it to surface somewhere every time we passed some trees, but nothing happened. Note that the trees are bare at this time of year, and are not terribly dense there, so it was sort of silly that I kept looking for it to re-appear. It was more of an "I can't believe my eyes" reaction. This morning, I tried to see if anyone else reported it, but didn't find it. I did find a web cam of a meteor that a Weatherford, TX police offer took a couple days ago. I watched that web cam image, and it was almost identical to what we saw last night and moving in what looked to be the same direction based on the shot of the courthouse in the foreground. (Note that we were driving from Weatherford to our home near Perrin). Hope all that helps!
