Reports Report 377b (Event 377-2011)

Observer
Name Kevin
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks I know exactly where I was sitting, and I know and can point out exactly where it appeared in the sky. There are two trees that are taller than the others in the back yard. It appeared right inbetween them at the tops of these two trees which is where I like to look at night because that\'s my view of the sky per say as I sit there at night time. Using these two trees I can also tell about where the visibility of the fireball ended. My wife did not completely believe me when I told her so its nice to know other people saw something as well. I would have reported it sooner but didn\'t know where or if they wouldn\'t believe me either. I was watching a show about UFOs and it reminded me of the fireball so I searched Google to see if anyone had seen a fireball in nashville tennessee and low and behold...justification! I never believed it to be a UFO of course, I just thought it was a large meteor falling to earth that I was fortunate enough to witness.

Remarks Okay...I was sitting there and then heard what I guess would sound like a bullet whizzing through air. It came from up above and behind me which I remember I thought was strange. Where I perceived the sound to come from was no where near where I saw the fireball appear. The sound came from behind me and the fireball was clearly in front of me when it appeared so then I figured somehow the sound and fireball were related in some way. It took about one to two seconds after the sound before I saw the fireball. When I saw the fireball it kinda sounded like the sound of a match being lit only more intense. I remember hearing it giving off crackling noises as it fell.

Terminal flash

Remarks I was sitting outside as usual and I was looking exactly where it appeared before it actually appeared so I witnessed the entire event. It was initially a lime greenish fireball falling for the most part in a downward direction and ever so slightly toward the left as well. Then it became a yellowish orange as it fell leaving some of these yellowish fragments behind which dissipated before the fireball itself did. The most intense part of the flash was at the beginning when it was greenish colored. It also slowly shrank as it fell as its color changed.
Fragmentation
