Remarks I was driving east on Grove Street headed toward Highway 24 East and was watching a large plane bank and head toward the airport. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a greenish, glowing ball, larger than a soft ball but smaller than a volley ball just appear and then it arced downward, toward the left, and I lost it at the tree line. The sky was darkening but there was an orangish glow remaining from the sunset. I\'ve seen comets, and meteor showers before but this was extremely large and I didn\'t notice any \"tail\" or stream. The plane was quite some distance from it and I don\'t believe it was anything jettisoned from the plane. There have been a couple of reports to Johnnie Horne, who writes a column on the night sky for our local newspaper and the time coincides with the time I saw the object. One report was from an amateur astronomer who was in Wilmington near the coast). Another observer was in Sampson Co., about 15 miles east of where I was located.
