Satellite Io
io-enh_tiny.gif - 5.83 K Io (EYE-oh) is the innermost of Jupiter's four great Galilean satellites. It is also the most volcanically active body in the solar system, due to the tidal effect of Jupiter and Europa "pumping" energy into Io.
[O-C graph of eclipses of Io]

An O - C graph plots observed (O) minus calculated (C) values for a series of events. Any difference in the real world (O) versus a model (C) is readily apparent. Trends can be easily seen. Variation from modeled values can be due to an inaccurate model, true change in the observed system, or "noise" in the observations.
