cfar_tiny.gif - 7.27 K Callisto is the outermost of Jupiter's Galilean satellites. Nearly the size of Mercury, its icy surface is heavily scarred by impact craters. Several chains of craters have been observed, produced by the impact of comets (similar to comet Shoemaker-Levy 9) disrupted by tidal forces exerted by Jupiter's gravitation.
[O-C graph of eclipses of Callisto]

An O - C graph plots observed (O) minus calculated (C) values for a series of events. Any difference in the real world (O) versus a model (C) is readily apparent. Trends can be easily seen. Variation from modeled values can be due to an inaccurate model, true change in the observed system, or "noise" in the observations.
